We’re budget travellers, but sometimes you have to say yes to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. On this trip to Las Vegas, we decided to step well outside our comfort zone and take a sunrise helicopter flight over the Hoover Dam and deep into the Grand Canyon. Starting just after sunrise on the Las Vegas Strip, we fly out over the desert as the city fades away behind us. From the air, the Hoover Dam looks even more impressive, with Lake Mead stretching out in the soft morning light. Then, almost without warning, the ground disappears, and the Grand Canyon opens up beneath us — vast, dramatic, and impossible to truly capture on camera. This isn’t a polished luxury review. We’re honest budget travellers experiencing something extraordinary for the first time — front seat vs back seat, noisy audio, and all. We also share whether we genuinely think a helicopter tour like this is worth the money for first-time Las Vegas visitors. If you’re planning a trip to Vegas, dreaming of the Grand Canyon, or wondering whether this bucket-list experience lives up to the hype, this video is for you. 🎲 LAS VEGAS ADVENTURES: The Full Las Vegas Playlist ➔ https://tr.ee/HgFLPs (Binge-watch the entire series from start to finish) 👉 Subscribe for budget travel, vanlife & real-world adventures 🌍 TRAVEL PLANNING & ESSENTIALS Buses & Trains in Asia: https://12go.asia/?z=11180835 eSIM (15% OFF): https://airalo.pxf.io/c/6088765/2071037/15608 NordVPN (73% OFF): https://nordvpn.com/footstepstyretracks Our Favorite Itineraries: https://plannin.com/en?refId=FootstepsTyretracks 💳 TRAVEL CARDS WE USE Starling: https://www.starlingbank.com/referral?code=Udl4ja Revolut: https://revolut.com/referral/?referral-code=marcz55v!NOV1-25-VR-GB-MDL-CTRL&geo-redirect 🚐 GEAR & MERCH Our Travel & Vanlife Gear: https://www.amazon.co.uk/shop/footstepstyretracks Get the Merch: https://footsteps-tyretracks-shop.fourthwall.com Our Soundtrack (Epidemic Sound): https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/fpupd2 📸 FOLLOW THE ADVENTURE Blog: https://footstepstyretracks.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/footsteps_tyretracks Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/footstepstyretracks Support our adventures on Ko-fi ➔ https://ko-fi.com/footstepstyretracks (Exclusive updates, behind-the-scenes, and video credits) 📩 BUSINESS ENQUIRIES footstepstyretracks@gmail.com 00:00:00 Early Morning Start on the Las Vegas Strip 00:00:45 Sunrise Over Las Vegas 00:01:31 Boarding the Helicopter at Las Vegas Airport 00:03:48 Flying Over Hoover Dam at Sunrise 00:06:09 Inside the Grand Canyon by Helicopter 00:10:29 Landing Back at Las Vegas Airport 00:10:45 Back at the Luxor Hotel After the Flight #LasVegas #GrandCanyon #BucketListTravel #HelicopterTour

About This Video

Well, good morning from Las Vegas — we’re up at about 20 to 6, dodging the Strip’s pipe music and heading out for something we don’t do every day as budget travellers: a sunrise helicopter tour to the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. We start just after sunrise at the airport, make the classic mistake of going to the wrong pickup spot (not far, thankfully), and then it’s straight out to the helicopter. Full disclosure: V managed to bag the front seat next to the pilot… and I’m stuck in the middle at the back, trying to film around seats and windows. Once we lift off, Vegas drops away fast and it’s open desert in every direction. The early morning light is the real magic here — it softens the landscape and makes everything glow. Seeing the Hoover Dam from the air genuinely puts the scale into perspective, with Lake Mead looking calm and glassy behind it. Then, almost without warning, the ground disappears and the Grand Canyon opens up beneath you — vast, dramatic, and honestly impossible to capture properly on camera. This isn’t a polished luxury review — it’s our real first-time experience, noisy audio and all. But if you ever get the chance to do a flight like this, especially early in the morning, we honestly couldn’t recommend it enough.
