Good morning from day two of our Brazil adventure — and honestly, this one went completely off-script. We started out thinking we’d do something simple: head over to the African Cultural Museum on the peninsula and maybe catch some local music later. Before we even left, I had to show you the vultures nesting up on the tower in Vee’s auntie’s garden (apparently they come back every couple of years), and that pretty much set the tone for the day: unexpected and very, very Brazil. Then Google Maps did what Google Maps does best at the worst possible time and sent us the “scenic” way… except the road basically vanished. In a brand new electric car that’s only a couple of months old, we ended up crawling over sunbaked dirt, rocky ruts, and what looked like old river beds from the last wet season. With EV silence, every scrape and clunk feels ten times louder, and we genuinely had moments of thinking, “Are we spending the night on a Brazilian hillside with no signal?” We eventually made it… only to find the museum was closed (Mondays — classic). But we salvaged the day with proper local flavours, a bit of bargain-spotting (that beautiful car for sale got my brain ticking), and finished at a stunning sunset spot with floating pontoon restaurants. It’s the perfect reminder that you don’t need to be a full-time traveler — or a perfect plan — to have an epic adventure.
