About This Video

Well, it’s that time of year again: back to school. In this video I break down the student tech I actually think is worth bringing into uni for 2025, based on what worked for me living on residence in first year (and what was just annoying to deal with). I start with the real essentials: a good laptop (thin, light, good battery, comfy keyboard/trackpad), plus external storage so you don’t blow hundreds upgrading internal storage when we’re all broke. I also explain SSD vs HDD in plain English and why I use both—an SSD for fast access and a big HDD for cheap backups—because you do not want to be the person who loses an entire semester of work. Then I get into the “not required, but honestly super nice” stuff: iPad + Apple Pencil for paperless notes (and why I still see it as a companion device), dorm-friendly charging like a power strip, long cables, a power bank, and noise cancelling headphones for when you need to lock in. I also talk desk setup upgrades (monitor/keyboard/mouse/stand), plus fun extras like a Switch and a cheap projector for movie nights. Finally, I share the student discount cheat codes: Apple’s student pricing/bundles, Spotify student, Amazon Prime student, and even free pro software (like Autodesk) using your student email.
