About This Video

In this video I’m doing what has basically become a channel tradition: another M1 MacBook Air review… but 1317 days later, in 2026. Tech YouTube is busy yelling about M5/M6 MacBook Pros, but I’m just some guy with a weird obsession with technology who doesn’t have three grand lying around. I’ve been daily driving this fanless, base M1 (8‑core CPU / 7‑core GPU) Air with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage for about 3.5 years, and I’m breaking down what’s aged well, what hasn’t, and whether it’s still a smart buy if you’re a student or just want a reliable laptop. I go through the real-world stuff that actually matters: build quality (I don’t baby it, it lives in my backpack), the keyboard (great to type on, but the shiny keycap problem is real), trackpad (still top tier), and the port situation (two USB‑C and a headphone jack… yes, you’re living the dongle life). The display still looks great, but brightness outdoors isn’t amazing, and the webcam is easily the worst-aged part. Battery health is also something you need to check if you’re buying used—mine sits around 82% and I still get about 4–5 hours of light/medium use. Performance is the big surprise: it’s still super capable for school, multitasking, and even editing my entire YouTube channel in Final Cut Pro. I also give my 2026 buying advice (don’t go Intel), plus used-buying tips like checking battery health, ports, iCloud lock, and MDM. Overall: the M1 Air is in its twilight years, but it’s still a Toyota Corolla of laptops if the price is right.
