All right, it’s finally here: the iPhone 17 Pro Max. In this video I’m doing a straight-up unboxing and first impressions, because that’s honestly the best way to see what’s actually different before the “full review” brain kicks in. The first thing that hit me was the silver/white contrast—way more contrasty than I expected—and the fact that there’s no SIM card slot. This is my first ever eSIM iPhone, and Apple’s little “you no longer need a physical SIM card” message is… kinda ominous, not gonna lie. I also talk through the new camera “plateau” design (we’re finally deviating from the square camera look), the aluminum unibody, and why I’m a little worried about durability since aluminum is softer than titanium/stainless. Because I’m not risking it, I throw on an ESR UltraFit Armorite Pro screen protector (super easy, two-step, no dust/bubbles) and an ESR Classic Hybrid Magnetic Case that actually covers the camera bar and even has a stash stand. After setup, I share quick thoughts on performance, cameras, and what I’m expecting from battery—especially since the eSIM-only variant should have more space for battery. I also take it out to McMaster Homecoming for a mini camera + battery test, mess around with zoom (4x feels more practical than 5x), and I’ll follow up with a full review once I’ve had more time with it.
