About This Video

Apple just dropped the iPhone 17 lineup (iPhone 17, 17 Pro/Pro Max, and the iPhone Air… which I keep calling the iPhone 17 Air lol), and in this video I’m not trying to read you a spec sheet—I’m giving you my actual thoughts and which one I think you should buy. If you’re in a rush: get the base iPhone 17. It finally got 120Hz, it starts at 256GB, and it doesn’t have the big compromises that the average person actually cares about anymore. For most students and normal everyday use, it’s the easy pick. I also talk about the iPhone 17 Air, which is basically replacing the old Plus model. To me, it’s more of a “for funsies” phone: super thin, super stylish, and kind of an engineering flex (probably a test for a future foldable). I’m still a little worried about real-world battery, and it only has one camera, so I don’t think it’s the practical choice for most people. Then there’s the 17 Pro and Pro Max—best cameras, biggest screen (Pro Max is the only big option now), new aluminum unibody, and a vapor chamber for cooling. I also get into the whole “8x optical quality” thing and why it’s not exactly what it sounds like. And for upgrading: if your phone works, don’t upgrade. I’m upgrading because I run a tech channel and I’m going to do day-in-the-life battery tests and comparisons.
