In this episode, Capt. Dan takes you along for a true solo offshore fishing day, from the first cup of coffee at home to lines in the water during a HUGE full moon in the Florida Keys. Moon phases play a major role in how fish feed and move, and on this trip, the full moon definitely made things interesting. Capt. Dan starts the day trolling offshore and picks up multiple tuna, then transitions to deep dropping, catching several different species along the way, including a keeper yelloweye snapper. This video is equal parts education, real-world fishing strategy, and honest offshore action, no shortcuts, no fluff. 🎣 What you’ll see in this episode: • A complete solo offshore fishing day from start to finish • Trolling for tuna during a full moon • Deep dropping techniques and species variety • Landing and keeping a yelloweye snapper • How moon phases affect fish behavior and feeding patterns • Real decision-making on the water If you’ve ever wondered whether the full moon helps or hurts fishing, this is a great look at how it actually plays out offshore. Whether you’re planning a trip to the Florida Keys, learning how to fish solo, or just enjoy real, unscripted fishing days—this one’s for you. 👉 Drop a comment below and tell us: Do you like fishing during a full moon, or avoid it altogether? *Our AMAZON STORE* http://www.amazon.com/shop/floridafishingcouple (contains affiliate links) *EVERYTHING Else You Need* https://linktr.ee/floridafishingcouple ***Check out our gear*** https://floridafishingcouple.com/our-gear Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUpU2Z6CahYWKUU7WcJztA/join NEW Florida Fishing Couple Merch is UP! About This Video

Good morning from the Keys—this one’s a true solo offshore day for me, from that first cup of coffee at home to lines in the water under a HUGE full moon. Elizabeth was away, I was a little rusty from being on the road, and I honestly had “no freaking idea” what I was going to find. I’m watching weather, scanning for birds, checking weed patches (that were weirdly empty), and setting up a simple troll spread as I slide into the humps. Once it finally happened, it happened fast: the feather started producing blackfin tuna, and I even found tiny squid in the water—perfect “match the hatch” proof of why that lure was getting crushed. After icing a couple tunas, I switched gears and went deep dropping, which has fast become one of my favorite things because you truly never know what’s coming up. I talk through the whole “is this cheating?” debate (my take: it’s just technology, same as sonar and reels), then put a beautiful yelloweye snapper in the box for my mom, catch a vermilion, release a baby tilefish with a descender, and wrap the day with a mystery fish and a wild moon rise back at the dock. No shortcuts, no fluff—just real decisions and real fishing.
