Close The Distance Between You & Opponent | Boxing | How To Cover The Gap

In this video, I go over 3 ways on how to cover the gap or close the distance between you and your opponent. Usually the taller fighter fights on the outside and makes the shorter fighter chase him or her around. BE CAUTIOUS! Boxing is a dangerous sport regardless of how great or experienced you are. If you participate in boxing YOU WILL get hit. However, these 3 techniques will help minimize the risk and hopefully save you from a fight ending punch. 1: Head Movement Move your head. I always say if you're not punching you're moving your feet. If you're not moving your feet or punching then you better move your head. As you get closer to your opponent it's important to become a moving target to lessen the impact of your opponent's punch or make him miss all together. 2: Feint & Footwork As you approach your opponent advance in a non-linear way. Don't come straight at your opponent like a bull try being deceptive and close the distance moving right, left, center, the more directions the better PLUS add a few feints to distract your opponent. If he's worried about getting hit he may not notice you closing the distance. 3: Throw Punches (All 3 combined) This is one is like fighting fire with fire. The best way is to combing all 3 which means move your head, be creative with your footwork, throw some feints AND throw some punches. This may be the most successful one but also the riskiest because whenever your throw at your opponent chances are you're in range to get punched back.
