From there it’s straight production mode: I grab big drums (because I hate writing to a metronome), chop them into my own kick/snare pattern, and hunt for “the nastiest bass sound.” I layer piano/organ ideas, add some vintage soul-style strings, and keep shaping the chorus until it feels like it hits hard enough. At the end I top it off with a guitar solo, run the full listen, and then finally compare it to the real song. The funniest part? I wasn’t close overall… but apparently I accidentally copied something from the original anyway, even though I never heard it. That’s the whole challenge in a nutshell: trust your ears, move fast, and accept the chaos.
