The big headline is the PW Adizero Pro Evo 1 EVOLUTION — a super rare Humanrace collaboration with Pharrell Williams — and it’s $1000. Yep, a thousand dollars for a pair of race shoes. That’s the sort of money that makes you stop and ask: are we losing the plot a bit here? I also talk about the adidas Adizero Pro Evo 2 at £450 in the UK, which is the mad part because it’s not even some impossible-to-find unicorn — it’s in full size runs and relatively easy to buy if you’ve got the cash. And that’s the point: in the current climate, very few people do. I’m not here to tell you what to spend, but I do ask where your limit is — is £200 the ceiling for a top racing shoe, or are you willing to go higher if the performance is there?
