Editing Matt here: we filmed our “Top 5 International Whiskies of 2025” blind tasting, felt great about it… and then realized we completely left out Glen Scotia Victoriana, which absolutely should’ve been in the top five (honestly, it was in both of our top three for the year). So you’re going to see us run the original top-five blind first, and then at the end we come back and work the Victoriana in after the fact—because it needed to be taken into consideration. In the main blind, we each brought our five highest-rated international (aka non-US) whiskies and ranked them first by nose, then by taste. We talk through all the weird and wonderful notes we get—everything from white/red grape and apple sweetness to coastal sand, graham cracker, barbecue sauce, and straight-up campfire embers. The big takeaways: our ratings don’t always predict what wins in the blind (but this time, for the first time, our top-rated picks actually landed at #1 for each of us), and a couple of these are super easy bottles to find. Then we redo the ending properly by blinding Victoriana against our top two picks, and somehow it ends up being the one we both agree on as our favorite international whiskey we tried in 2025.
