About This Video

In this video, we’re hanging out with a full bottle of Glen Scotia Victoriana after realizing we’d had it before in a smaller Glen Scotia tasting kit—and if I’m remembering right, it was both of our favorites from that lineup. This one’s a Campbeltown single malt, cask strength, non-chill filtered, and it comes in hot at 54.2% ABV, so yeah… the alcohol sharpness shows up right away on the nose. But once we get past that punch, we start pulling out baked apple vibes—like apple crisp or apple pie—plus campfire smoke, earthy notes, and even some marshmallow and graham cracker/Cinnamon Toast Crunch energy. On the palate, the smokiness turns up and makes it pretty clear (to us, at least) that there’s a peaty vibe going on. The second sip got sweeter and creamier for me—melted marshmallow, roasted/burnt marshmallow, baked apples coming back—while I also called out some celery on one of the sips because it really popped. The finish surprised us: it’s smooth for the proof, with lingering sweetness, honey showing up, and a creamy flavor that’s hard to pin down. We also do a quick water test: a drop helps subdue the nose sharpness and brings vanilla sweetness forward, but we both felt the overall experience shifts—and I’m leaning toward not adding water. Our scores land this one way up near the top of our rankings, easily in that top-three conversation for us.
