How to dive Bikini Atoll. A full recap of getting there, diving and getting home. Plus all my best footage from five dives on the U.S.S. Saratoga... This is the third and final video from my time in Bikini Atoll in August 2024. We haven't even talked about the U.S..S Saratoga - the only aircraft carrier to be sunk by nuclear weapon and one of only two diveable aircraft carriers in the world. My favorite part being the Helldiver and Avenger planes in the sand. What an incredible place to dive! About This Video

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Divers Ready — my name is James. This is part three (and the wrap-up) of my Bikini Atoll series: a straight, practical rundown of the logistics of actually getting out there, what the diving schedule feels like, and then a proper revisit of the one wreck I hadn’t shown yet — the U.S.S. Saratoga. I’m also answering the big question I kept seeing in the comments: “How do you book and travel to Bikini?” The planning is weirdly simple because, at the time of recording, there’s only one operator running trips (Master Liveaboards) and only one ship running the Bikini itinerary. I walk you through the whole journey: get yourself to Guam or Honolulu, take the island-hopper through the Marshalls, transit through the U.S. Army base on Kwajalein, ferry over to Ebeye, then commit to the 30-hour crossing out to Bikini. Once you’re there, it’s a full-on technical diving destination — beyond recreational limits, no shallow dives, and practically speaking it’s Mod 2 CCR and above because there’s no open-circuit trimix support. The days are long: 2 to 2.5 hour runtimes, a mandatory 4-hour surface interval, then do it again — 15 back-to-back 200-foot dives will absolutely earn you that “I’m dived out” feeling. And then there’s Saratoga: the only aircraft carrier sunk by a nuclear weapon, sitting in 200 feet. The footage you see is from five dives, and my favorite part was playing with the lighting down on the Helldiver and Avenger aircraft in the sand. Would I go back? Yes — but Bikini is the three E’s: exotic, expensive, and exhausting.
