About This Video

This is part two of my three-part series on the Halcyon Symbios dive computer system, and in this video I’m focused on the HUD (Heads Up Display). We’ve somehow never properly talked about HUDs on the channel, which is mad considering how normal they are in the CCR world—where diving without a heads-up display is very much frowned upon. Important note: this is for education only, not a review. I don’t do paid reviews, but if you want a dedicated review later, tell me in the comments. I break down who actually benefits from a HUD: anyone working underwater (instructors, guides, photographers, scientists), parents supervising kids, and divers who want better skill development without constantly dropping their head to check a wrist computer. With the Symbios Tank Pod and buddy feature, you can monitor your own gas and your buddy’s (or a student’s) gas, which cuts down on miscommunication. I also talk about how the HUD helps with trim (trim sensor in your line of sight), ascent rate and depth while staying in trim, deco stops (including training mode), and navigation with a compass heading always visible. I run through the articulating mini ball-clamp style mount, mask attachment options (top or bottom screw), size/weight (2 cm square screen, 95 g), and how programming is handled via the Halcyon app over Bluetooth—so you’re not trying to fiddle with settings through your mask.
