In this video I run through scuba-related gear I’ve genuinely enjoyed this year (and a few things I flat-out needed), to give you some inspiration for the diver on your list… even if that diver is you. Quick note: this isn’t a sponsored video. I start with dive gear: my new go-to DAN DSMB (it’s chunky, 6ft, high-vis, and ridiculously versatile), a replacement mask from Divesoft that’s the same mold as my old faithful, and Divesoft’s DNA analyzer which is compact, Bluetooth-based, and brilliant for travel. I also upgraded my save-a-dive setup into a Pelican Vault V200, treated myself to OMS Slipstream fins (short, stiff, and a generous foot pocket for my massive feet), and I’m loving Gareth Lock’s Human Diver wetnotes with checklists and debrief tools baked in. Then I get into books (Rachel Lance’s Chamber Divers is a must-read), electronics (yes, I bought a drone), Shearwater’s new Tern TX and Peregrine TX with SWIFT air integration, and a Bigblue 9000-lumen can light that just keeps going. I wrap with stocking stuffers, DAN membership as a gift, training/coaching ideas, and the one big trip I’m running next year: the Sardine Run in South Africa.
