About This Video

This video is me stress-testing the SenseCAP Watcher from Seeed Studio — a $99 “physical spatial IRL AI agent” that can see, hear, comprehend, and react. AI is all the rage right now, but I wanted to separate substance from VC fluff, so I looked at the trendline (Y Combinator going all-in on agentic AI) and then put real hardware on the bench. Unlike a lot of overfunded gadget hype, Seeed tends to stay grassroots (this came out of Kickstarter), and they actually ship open-ish maker hardware you can deploy. I walk through the hardware (ESP32-S3, circular display, battery, SD slot, Grove connectors, USB-C) and do the initial setup in the SenseCraft app. Out of the box it’s already doing edge human detection, and then I start stacking behaviors: app notifications, custom greetings, gesture detection (rock/paper/scissors), and then the fun part — bespoke commands using a vision+LLM workflow (like “if you see a smiling person, say X” or “if you see a Raspberry Pi, alert me”). It nailed the Raspberry Pi instantly, and that’s the moment where you realize local, privacy-friendly spatial intelligence is getting real. Voice Q&A works well for general knowledge, but it can’t do real-time data like stock prices yet. Bottom line: humans are cooked… not today for “knowledge workers,” but this category is evolving fast.
