Is TEMU worth it? TEMU promises cutting-edge spy tech for rock-bottom prices—but is it a privacy breakthrough or just e-waste in disguise? I put nine of their wildest security gadgets to the test, from hidden cameras to signal jammers, and the results were... unsettling. Some of these are shockingly good, others are laughably bad—so which ones should you actually trust? About This Video

We’re on TEMU—the place with insanely cheap and also very, very questionable tech—so I decided to do what any sane person would do: test a lineup of “spy” and privacy gadgets making wilder claims than the last. I ran real, practical tests on RFID blocking sleeves, a tiny Wi‑Fi cube camera, a so-called “recording pen,” a 360° light bulb security camera, bargain tracker tags that want to be AirTags, and an “anti-tapping” detector that claims it can find cameras and GPS trackers. Some of this stuff is shockingly competent, and some of it is basically just marketing copy in plastic. The big takeaway: a few of these devices actually deliver if you understand the constraints—especially anything that’s just NFC/RFID shielding or a straightforward Wi‑Fi camera with a decent app. The cube camera surprised me with low latency and solid software, and the bulb camera was way better than it had any right to be for the price. But when TEMU starts promising “GPS detection” and magic infrared camera-finding optics, that’s where reality hits—false positives, weak detection, and features that don’t make technical sense. If you’re building privacy into an off-grid or decentralized setup, you still need to think in terms of real comms modalities (Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, mesh networks), not vibes.
