About This Video

In this live self-hosting chat, I hang out with you all on a Saturday morning, catch up on what’s been going on, and we bounce around a bunch of homelab topics—because that’s honestly what these streams are for. We kick things off with a question about vehicle tracking apps, and I talk through what I’ve seen in the self-hosted space, including LubeLogger (I’ve covered it before) as a solid option for tracking maintenance and vehicle history in a way that actually makes sense for a homelab. Then I go on a bit of a rant—because sometimes it needs to be said. I talk about how frustrating it is when people trash a product (or a creator) before they even know what it is, specifically around a new piece of hardware I’m testing that’s heading to Kickstarter, and the same device Jim’s Garage is also checking out. If you’re not interested, cool—don’t watch. But acting like creators “owe” you only the content you personally want is wild. We also celebrate a huge milestone: I crossed 100,000 subscribers, which still feels unreal. Along the way we chat about homelab gear, cable choices, and even some broader security/privacy concerns like TP-Link investigations and surveillance tech—because self-hosting isn’t just Docker containers, it’s also about control.
