I've been sick for weeks and really miss the community aspect of doing these livestreams every week. Let's hang out and chat about whatever's going on. I can't make any promises about how long the hangout will last, but thanks for hanging out for a while! We may take a look at the selfh.st newsletter to see what kind of stuff has been happening in the self-hosting world this last week. About This Video

I finally went live again after a few rough weeks, because I really missed the community side of doing these hangouts. In this stream I catch you up on what’s been going on with my health—sleep issues, trying a new medication (Seroquel), and how it’s helped me actually get some sleep… but also brought on some pretty brutal, vivid nightmares and a level of brain fog that’s been genuinely frustrating. I also talk through how slow and messy dealing with medical systems can be, and why I pushed for better “here’s what to do if you need help now” info in autoresponders. After the personal update, we shift into homelab community stuff: I talk about my homelab submission page, how to send in your lab (big or small), and why I’m not here to judge cable management or cleanliness—I just want to see what you’re building and what you’re running. Then we get into a ranty-but-real discussion about AI “vibe coding.” I explain how I accidentally built and deployed a simple browser game (even containerized it) in about an hour using Claude, without writing code myself—and why that scares me. The big takeaway: if you don’t understand the code, you can’t properly review it, and that opens the door for insecure apps and outright malicious stuff in the self-hosting world.
