About This Video

In this live self-hosting chat, I’m basically doing what I always end up doing with you guys: troubleshooting in real time, talking through what’s going on in my homelab world, and then bouncing into whatever the community wants to dig into. We started with some stream setup chaos—audio popping and crackling—because I switched cameras. I ended up swapping over to the shotgun mic under the camera, and we also talked about why I ditched the “it’s still a webcam” Elgato Facecam Pro and went back to my Panasonic G4 DSLR for better image quality. From there, we got into self-hosting news (including the Selfh.st weekly) and some real talk about Docker management tools. I shared why I’m not ready to jump ship to Dockhand yet—even though I’m happy with the project and the reception to my video—because it’s still early and I want to see maturity before I bet my stack on it. I also covered a practical tip: if you’re still running the original Watchtower image, it’s archived, so I switched to the actively maintained fork and it was as simple as swapping the image name. We wrapped with general Q&A, community projects, and a quick reminder that this year I’m being more deliberate—fewer videos, but only on stuff I’m actually excited about.
