About This Video

In this live self-hosting chat, I’m basically just hanging out with you all and talking through what’s been going on in my homelab world lately—while I’m also fighting a sinus infection (thanks, kid). We bounce around a bunch of topics like we always do: self-hosting news, containers, and whatever you all bring up in chat. I also talk a bit about wanting to do more interactive community-style streams with other creators, but I’m still figuring out the workflow because juggling screen switching, conversation, and chat all at once can get messy fast. We get into some practical homelab stuff too—like local password managers. I explain why I self-host Vaultwarden and pair it with the Bitwarden browser extension, and why I moved away from LastPass once they started hiking prices and adding restrictions. We also talk smart home gear: I’m still really happy with Third Reality Zigbee plugs, and I show the Zigbee mesh visualization I wish I’d remembered to include in a recent video. On the flip side, I vent a bit about Aqara FP2 presence sensors—great idea, but I’ve had reliability issues with two of mine constantly dropping and forcing me to rebuild automations.
