We’re talking real data from 4,000+ self-hosters, and yeah—this is kind of our annual tradition where we look at what the community is actually running, what’s changing year over year, and what trends are starting to pop. We dig into why people self-host (hobby and privacy are still the big drivers), and we talk about how that shifts over time—cost might get you in the door, but privacy keeps you here. We also get into hardware choices (consumer hardware and low-power devices are huge), plus some interesting ambiguity around what people consider “low power” versus “consumer hardware.” We hit operating systems (with some surprising jumps like Home Assistant OS showing up way more), and we talk backups—where people store them, why offsite still isn’t as common as it should be, and why testing backups matters. And of course, we touch on containers—because for a lot of us, whether a project has a good Docker container is the difference between trying it today or never touching it at all.
