About This Video

Another day, another review—and this one genuinely felt like deja vu. In this video I take a proper look at the Questyle Sigma portable amp/DAC combo, because on paper it’s the spiritual successor to the CMA 18P: more compact, stripped of the “nobody used it” features, and now packing lossless Bluetooth (5.4) alongside USB. I walk you through the unboxing (still very Apple-esque and premium), the dual USB‑C layout (separate power and data), the 3.5 single-ended and 4.4 balanced/line-out, and the gain/lock switches—including the IEM mode for sensitive sets. Then I get into what matters: the sound and real-world drive. This thing is properly powerful—peak 5W, 64 steps of attenuation—and it’ll run planars like the Abyss JOAL comfortably, plus it’ll drive sensitive and even “insane” IEMs like the Raps Audio Supreme V3 without breaking your listening experience when you’re away from the desk. Sonically it’s Questyle’s house sound: clean, very resolving, neutral, black background, and more “studio reference” than “romantic.” Versus the Chord Mojo 2, I still find Mojo 2 more musical and (to my ears) the best DAC under $1,000, but Sigma hits harder on power, pocketability, and Bluetooth range. My big complaint: Bluetooth playback controls. I need fast-forward/rewind on-device like the M18i has—right now it’s a tiger-off. Scores: build 4/5, functionality 3/5 (until fixed), sound 4/5, value 4/5, overall 4 solid tigers out of 5.
