About This Video

If you’re looking for a calming treat that supports relaxation for your dog, in this video I show you exactly how I make my natural L-theanine calming gummies using bone broth and gelatin. I created this recipe for my 15-year-old Cavalier, Dexter, because he’s starting to experience some senior anxiety. After talking with his veterinarian and going over his supplements, food, and nutrition, we decided to add L-theanine into his daily routine—using a vet-guided dose range that’s appropriate for him. I walk you through the simple step-by-step process: I place Dexter’s L-theanine dose into each gummy cavity first, then warm 1/2 cup of bone broth and mix in 1 1/2 tablespoons of beef gelatin. Once it’s dissolved, I pour it into molds (I like putting the molds on a cookie sheet so they’re easy to move), then refrigerate until firm. You can store these in the fridge for up to 7 days, and I freeze extras so they last longer. My biggest takeaway: always check with your vet before adding supplements, because not everything plays well together—especially for seniors like Dexter.
