In this video, I’m sharing my three-step formula for a potty-free home: supervision, frequent potty breaks, and confinement. I’m explaining that supervision means having my eyeballs on my puppy at all times to prevent habits before they start. When I can’t supervise, I’m using confinement tools like crates or X-pens to keep my Cavalier successful. I’m also diving into why active puppies might need breaks every 15 to 30 minutes and how I stay proactive to avoid accidents entirely! đŸŽ„ How to Potty Train a Puppy: 3 Simple Steps for Success âžĄïž https://youtu.be/hk--BKytskk?si=QojDlUJvivBJovcn 🔗Some of these links may be affiliate links to help support our channel. 📚 Unlock a Happier, Healthier Dog with Royal Pups Training and Wellbeing Online Courses! âžĄïž http://royalpupstrainingandwellbeing.com/ đŸ¶đŸ’™ Support our passion for pet wellness! About This Video

In this video I break down how I get to a potty-free home with puppies using three simple things: supervision, frequent potty breaks, and confinement. For me, supervision means I literally have my eyeballs on that puppy at all times—because I don’t want accidents to become a habit. If I’m finding accidents after the fact, that tells me I wasn’t supervising, and my puppy is learning, “When I need to go, I just go.” My whole goal is to set my Cavalier up to be successful from the start. When I can’t keep eyes on my puppy, I lean on confinement as a management tool—like an X-pen, a crate, or even leashing the puppy to me. The confinement area needs to be sized right: big enough to stand up, turn around, and lay down, but not so big they can potty in one corner and sleep in another. Then we add frequent potty breaks, and I mean truly frequent when they’re awake and active—sometimes every 15 to 30 minutes. I don’t wait for “sniffing signs”; if my puppy just woke up, had a chew, ate, or started playing, I proactively take them out so we avoid accidents entirely.
