About This Video

In this video I’m making one of my favorite “yeast-buster” frozen treats to help fight that stinky, itchy yeast many dogs get on their face, ears, and paws. Dexter struggles with yeast around his face, and for us it’s not from a high-carb diet (he’s on a raw diet with very limited fruits and veggies). My vet and I feel Dexter’s yeast is more connected to his medications for his neurological condition, his weakened immune system, and his seasonal allergies—so I wanted something simple I could rotate in that supports his system. I walk you through the exact mix I use: 2 cups goat kefir, 1 cup melted coconut oil, 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, plus powdered cinnamon, ginger, and Oregon grapefruit. These ingredients bring probiotics/prebiotics and a blend of anti-inflammatory and antifungal support. I pour the mixture into small silicone molds, freeze them, and then thaw one into Dexter’s food—about 2 tablespoons every 2–4 days (rotation is key for us). After about a month, I’ve seen his yeast lighten up and not flare as badly, especially during summer, and his allergies seem a bit better too.
