Now, I wonder—do you actually know what an L-Fence is for a table saw and what uses it has? In this video I build a very simple L-Fence jig from 12mm plywood, because in my opinion, the simpler the better. If it’s simple, there’s a better chance you’ll actually make it and use it. I walk you through the exact cuts (50mm and 110mm strips), the clamp openings made with a 50mm hole saw, and the center relief cut so offcuts can clear. Then I glue it up (wood glue plus a dab of CA to speed things up) and reinforce it with screws—making sure it’s perfectly square, because that’s absolutely crucial. Once it’s built, I show how I set it up on the fence with clamps and how I align the blade so it’s flush with the jig but still 2–3mm below the fence (you don’t want to chew your fence up with the teeth). After that, I demonstrate three practical uses: jointing a straight edge on rough or live-edge stock (especially handy if you don’t have a jointer), making quick tapered cuts, and using a template to repeat furniture shapes like legs. The big takeaway is safety and control—the blade sits under the fence, your fingers stay away, and your table saw suddenly does a lot more with a jig that takes almost no space.
