In this video I’m taking you antique shopping with me for two days—first to St. Jacobs, and then to the Freelton antique mall. It was absolutely freezing (like -30), so this was very much an “indoors adventure” kind of weekend, and honestly just a nice way to get out of the house after such a cold winter. I wasn’t hunting for anything super specific, but I did have one vintage-girl mission in mind: I’d love to find 1920s, 30s, or 40s belt buckles so I can make dress buckles for spring and summer. I show you what I wore (including my warm go-to brown coat and a 1940s knit bucket-style bag), and then we browse everything from tins and quilts to original art, frames, and the cutest detailed cards. I definitely had a few “should I go back for it?” moments—especially with a cookie tin and a frame—but I tried to be realistic about prices and space. Even though I was starting to feel sick, I still found some really special pieces: a blue-and-white spice jar set, a gorgeous detailed tin for storing buttons, a vintage-looking scarf, a stunning needlepoint rug, sweet little Valentines, and Victorian nesting blocks that I’m already picturing under my Christmas tree.
