About This Video

In this video I’m doing two things at once: giving my van ceiling a fresh coat of pastel abstract colour, and answering your van life logistics questions. I start at the back of the van and test a softer palette (pink, teal, light purple, ultramarine, plus a shimmery “pearl sapphire” blue) because I wanted something that feels calmer and matches the vibe of my tiny home better. I’m using very unglamorous supplies—paper plates, a tub of water, and a few brushes—and honestly just letting it evolve as I go. While I paint, I chat about how I actually live on the road. I don’t book ahead (like, never ever), because I want to check places out first and I avoid busy tourist spots anyway. I also don’t try to “see everything” because I’m not on a holiday lap—I’m living my life, and I follow my energy, my health, and the weather. I answer practical questions about free camping spots, insurance, my move from Canada to Australia, loneliness, claustrophobia, and the gear that’s made a real difference—like my roof vent and weather shields. Plus I show my windy-conditions awning hack using the side panel bungeed on, because WA wind is no joke.
