If you’ve been doing everything “right” and your hair still isn’t retaining length — I’ve been there. About This Video

Hey y’all—this video is my most healthy, no-fuss wash day routine for longer, healthier hair without being in the shower all day. I’m showing you exactly what I do to help with length retention, reduce breakage, and keep my Type 4 curls moisturized. The biggest thing is I don’t jump straight into shampoo with a ton of product sitting on my strands—I always rinse first to get that gunky gel/leave-in off the top, and I’m intentional about guiding the product down the hair so my shampoo doesn’t have to fight for its life. After that, I go in with a calming clarifying shampoo to reset my scalp and remove buildup without that super stripped feeling. I shampoo twice—first for the scalp, second for the length—and I pay attention to the lather because that tells me the shampoo is actually breaking through the dirt and oil. Then I skip regular conditioner and go straight into a thick, creamy deep conditioner. I detangle in the shower in four sections with a detangling brush, starting from the ends, and I use water to dilute the conditioner first for slip, then go back in with the “real deal” so my hair gets the benefits. If I have time, I sit under my hooded steamer for about 10–15 minutes because the steam really helps that conditioner penetrate and I can see the curl poppage immediately.
