In this video, I finally tested the viral Miche Tropical Oasis Anti-Humidity Gel for a wash and go on my Type 4 hair—and y’all, I was not expecting the results. I’ve seen this gel everywhere, but the one thing that kept turning me off was everybody saying, “Add water… and when you think it’s wet, add more.” If you know me, you know I usually start my wash and gos on damp hair because that extra water typically doesn’t work for me. But for the first try, I followed the directions exactly: dripping wet hair, small-to-medium sections, and shingling (because the raking method is still not my ministry). I skipped leave-in on purpose because the brand claims it’s a “one-shot” product, and I wanted the gel to stand on its own. The gel is thick, slick, and grippy—in a good way—and it grabbed my curls fast with a little product. After drying, I had a nice cast that wasn’t weighing my hair down, plus shine, definition, and flexible hold once I broke the cast with serum. The real test was time: a full week later, my volume and definition were still there, I could work out without my hair falling apart, and I had basically no flaking. Adding that water really did make a difference.
