In this video I’m with my best friend Zayna (Zena), and we’re doing a full post-loc hair reset after she combed out her locs from a two-year run. As you can imagine, the comb-out came with dryness, breakage, and some real damage—especially around the front—so I focused on getting her hair clean, soft, detangled, and back into a healthy routine. I shampooed her hair twice, then went in with an intense moisture treatment to soften the strands so my brush could glide through (and y’all… the curl poppage started showing up right there at the sink). I took my time detangling from ends to roots, stayed gentle, and rinsed with cold water to help lock that moisture in. After that, I stretched her hair with a blow dryer comb attachment so I could trim on stretched hair—because I like to actually see what needs to go. I cut the see-through ends, used a traveling guide to keep everything even, and talked through the reality of uneven damage (you’re not always fixing everything in one day). To finish, I brought her curls back with a wash-and-go: Chief Rocka mousse first on wet hair, then Miche gel on top while shingling for definition, hold, and shine. We dried, shaped, pinned for framing, and the final look was a night-and-day difference—fresh cut, revived curls, and a reset that honestly felt good for the soul too.
