In this video, I’m running back the flat twist out because lately my results haven’t been giving—especially with foam/flat twist outs. I wanted to bring back the cream, the moisture, and the hold, so I grabbed two CurlDaze products from Walmart: the Creamy Curl Styler and the Glossy Shine Gel. The cream had that light coconut/tropical smell, felt thick with some weight (exactly what I was looking for), and I could literally see it seeping into my strands as I worked it in. I walk y’all through how I part and flat twist (side part, horizontal part in the back), and I explain why I make bigger parts in the back where my hair is less dense—so my twists still come out looking the same size. I used the gel very sparingly, mainly on the ends, because I wasn’t trying to get a hard gel cast—just a little extra hold and structure. After clipping the twists at the base, I dried under a hooded dryer (1 hour, then 30 more minutes after removing the clips), and the next morning I showed my take down tips: look for “spring back” to confirm your hair is fully dry, unravel the opposite way, and recoil the ends to keep frizz away. By day three, the hair was still looking pretty darn good with shine, definition, and structure—so I’m calling this cream + gel combo a success for my Type 4 flat twist out.
