About This Video

In this Battle of the Brands, I put The Doux Crazy Sexy Curl Honey Setting Foam up against the Miche Gel to Foam Styling Mousse to see which one really shows up for a flat twist out on my Type 4 hair. I split my hair down the middle and worked in sections, and I also showed y’all exactly how I flat twist (yes, the pointer finger does most of the work). I kept my sections medium-small, didn’t add any extra products underneath, and I even shared my little trick for the back: I “layer” my flat twists by splitting that back area into two so it stacks better and looks more full. During application, both felt good, but the Miche had that slippery-smooth, concentrated “a little goes a long way” vibe and made the process feel easier. The Doux still gave me that silky texture I’ll never forget and a sweet honeycomb smell that I personally love (I know everybody doesn’t). After drying and taking my hair down, both sides gave soft hold and definition, with a tiny bit of flaking on The Doux side at first (it didn’t continue). Two days later, the winner was clear: Miche held onto definition better, while The Doux side lost more shape and definition. My big takeaway? These foams can be too soft on their own—I miss using a curling cream underneath, and I think longer hair changes how long my twist outs last.
