About This Video

In this video I’m doing an Edge Booster first impression while styling a wash n go using the flip over method. Y’all know I became a foam + gel wash and go girly this year because I love how the foam gives that initial definition and the gel seals it in with hold. I start with the Edge Booster Extra Strength Formula Setting Mousse, and I’ll be honest—my favorite part was the smell. It’s giving amber and vanilla (yum), and the texture is airy and pillow-like but still has a firmer hold, kind of like the Pattern Beauty foam vibe. Then I go in with the Edge Booster Stronghold Styling Gel, and the scent is citrusy sweet—paired with the mousse it was straight creamsicle vibes. But in my opinion this was one of the thickest gels I’ve ever used, like a gel/edge control hybrid. It gave insane definition, but it also gave an old school heavy cast, weighed my hair down, left a sticky film, and had my hair feeling extremely dry—so that “moisturizing” claim was a no for me. The flip over method saved the look by building volume and keeping me from being stuck with one part, and I show you exactly how I section, shingle, flip, and set under the dryer. By the end I share how I’d use the gel again (leave-in + more water), and my updated routine lasted me 6 days—overall I rated the combo a 7.5/10.
