About This Video

Hey y’all, it’s Brandi LaShay, and in this video I’m revisiting the Mo Knows Hair Curl Collection and using it for a beginner-friendly flat twistout. I bought this line when it first launched, tried it back then, and honestly let it sit—so I wanted to run it back now that I’ve been on my little “gel twist out thingy.” I start with the Curl Primer (a lightweight spray leave-in) because it’s perfect for summer when you don’t want thick, cakey product sliding down your face. Then I follow up with the Smoothing Pudding—my favorite curling cream—because it melts into my hair, adds moisture, and gives me that glide with basically no residue. For the twistout, I use the Defining Gel (medium hold) on damp hair and walk you through exactly how I flat twist, including how I part and stack twists in the back for more volume (because my density is lower back there). I sit under the hooded dryer for about 40 minutes and finish air drying overnight before taking down—because if you’re questioning if it’s dry, it’s not dry. The twistout came out shiny and cute, but it was giving mid on longevity for me—it lasted one day, especially after a workout. By the end of the week I switched to my Extreme Gel for a wash and go, and I keep it real: the leave-in is decent, the Smoothing Pudding is a 10/10 must-have, and the gel just isn’t for my hair goals.
