About This Video

Hey y’all, in this video I’m doing another Battle of the Brands—The Doux Big Poppa “Bananas” Extreme Gel vs the Miche Tropical Oasis Anti-Humidity Gel. I split my hair straight down the middle so it’s even on both sides, started on bare hair (no leave-in), and used a ton of water because both gels really perform best that way. I shingled through each section so we could really see definition, clumping, slip, and how each gel coats the hair. I also talk about my hair being medium-to-low porosity (with a few high-porosity characteristics), because that can change how these gels feel and wear. With Miche, the slip is super smooth and jelly-like—almost aloe-vera vibes—and a little goes a long way, but I did mention I’ve experienced some flaking before when I wasn’t careful with water. With Bananas, I noticed the texture felt more runny than I remembered and even a little inconsistent (thick sometimes, thinner other times), plus I still wish it came in a jar because the packaging is annoying. After drying under the hooded dryer and wearing it out for four days, Bananas took the win for me—more cast, more structure, and better definition staying power. If you love a good cast like I do, she did that.
