About This Video

In this very chatty weekly reading vlog, I’m wrapping up Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma and I’m honestly having the best time. You can clearly tell she did her research—her passion for East African characters and myths is all over the book, from the historical artifacts to the way the human “houses” preserve different parts of African history, art, and culture. I also talk about the magic system (the house being alive, the rules being binding, and the whole heir situation) and why I love palate-cleansing between fantasy reads so I’m not comparing books back-to-back. I also take you along on my 5-day liquid fast/juicing week, as part of my health and weight-loss journey. I share what I’m drinking (lots of water, one coffee, tea, green juice with apple/celery/ginger/lemon, beetroot juice, smoothies, and soup when I’m hungry in the evening) and how it’s been making me feel—lighter, clearer, and way more hydrated. I get into the real-life side too: work has been hectic, I’m trying to stay consistent with editing without stressing myself, and I’m learning (again) that my body just doesn’t handle meat well, which keeps pushing me closer to eating more vegan meals. For current reading, I start Pages & Co. #2 (Tilly and the Lost Fairy Tales) for a cozy, quick read that helps me wind down at night when my brain won’t switch off.
