This is part 1 of my bookshelf reorganization for Bookmas Day 8, and honestly… it took me three tries just to get the intro right because I was recording with flu brain and kept messing up my mic and the record button. But we move. In this video I start my usual twice-a-year reset: I pull everything off the top shelves, clean and polish, and then begin reorganizing my entire collection by author surname (alphabetical). I used to do rainbow shelves, but I wanted something that makes it easier to actually see what I own—especially when I’ve got multiple books from the same author. While I’m sorting, I’m also building my 2026 TBR jar and updating my StoryGraph. I realized I’d missed a bunch of books (which means they weren’t logged), so I scan as I go, mark what I own, and even add a title manually when it’s not in the database (you’re welcome). I also talk through my system—vertical stacking first, and only going horizontal if I absolutely have to (because that’s usually a sign I need to unhaul). By the end, I give you a mini shelf tour of my A’s and B’s, including favorites like Pierce Brown’s Red Rising series and a stack of Olivia Blake.
