In this episode we are fishing in the Louisiana Atchafalaya spillway swamp. We set out on an old-school catfishing adventure chasing giant blue catfish. We know the big ones are there and we were determined to catch them. Using our "DEAD POLES" method—an old-school technique similar to bank pole fishing but taken several yards out into the water—we baited our lines with fresh cut mullet and gizzard shad. First came a couple of solid blue catfish, but then we heard a commotion across the bayou and knew something big just hit one of our dead poles. Turned out to be a true river monster: a massive 30-pound blue catfish that fought like it owned the Atchafalaya! Watch as we scramble to net this beast off the side of the boat!
