Man… this trip didn’t go how we planned. Lee (my son) spent the whole day out in the Louisiana heat digging worms the hard way… then we hit the pond and caught a bucket full of fresh brim, getting ready for a night of flathead fishing down in the bayou. Everything was lined up perfect. Or so we thought. I hooked into a big one… turned out to be a gar—and that was about the only action we saw all night. No runs. No bites. Nothin’. But instead of lettin’ all that hard work go to waste, we switched gears and did somethin’ a little different… An old Cajun dish my grandpa used to make: Brim Brûlée. Yeah… we ate the bait.
