In this one I get into why I removed the Kawasaki Clean Air System—aka the PAIR valve/air-injection system—on my W650. If you’ve ever wondered why your bike sounds like it’s trying to start a campfire on decel, this is a big part of it. I walk through what the system is doing, why it can create those pops and crackles on overrun, and why I decided it didn’t belong on my build. I also do a simple before-and-after ride test so you can hear the difference and get a feel for how the bike behaves once the PAIR is out of the equation. For me, this is one of those “clean up the baseline” steps before any real customizing—get it running as nicely as possible, reduce the extra noise, and keep the bike feeling honest and predictable.
