#kawasaki w650 #w650 build #custom motorcycle build In this episode of my custom W650 build series, things get real. Stripping the bike down is one thing… but the wiring? That’s a whole different level. I’m not a natural electrician, and pulling the ignition coil felt like crossing a line — the moment the bike truly “died.” From here on, it’s on me to bring it back to life. In this video: Removing some key electrical components and labelling the loom Why documenting EVERYTHING matters during a teardown Tips for staying sane when dealing with vintage motorcycle wiring Removing the airbox to access the heart of the electrics Smart tricks like colour-coding hardware for future rebuilds And… a slightly unhinged idea involving custom rims and a suitcase 👀 I also talk about how online communities have been invaluable during this process — especially other W650 owners who’ve been down this road before. This is part of an ongoing series documenting the full transformation of my classic twin into a custom build from the ground up. If you enjoy honest builds, learning as you go, and the occasional questionable decision… you’re in the right place. About This Video

In this W650 build episode, I hit what I can only call the point of no return. Stripping bodywork is one thing, but once I started pulling key electrical components—like the ignition coil—and getting into the wiring loom, it felt like the moment the bike truly “died.” I’m not a natural electrician, so this part is equal parts careful progress and me trying not to create a future nightmare for myself. A big theme here is documentation. I’m labeling the loom, taking notes, and generally trying to record everything as I go, because I know future-me will forget what present-me “totally remembers.” I also get into a few sanity-saving teardown habits—like color-coding hardware and keeping removals organized—plus why removing the airbox matters when you’re trying to access the heart of the electrics on a W650. And yes, I float a slightly unhinged idea about custom rims and a suitcase, because apparently I like making projects harder than they need to be. Along the way I talk about how valuable the W650 community has been—there’s real comfort in knowing other owners have been down this road and made it out the other side.
