In this one I’m making up for a year of missed “usual tours” by taking a simple day ride that packs in a bunch of what Vancouver Island does best. It’s not a spec-sheet review or a wrenching session—more of a reset ride. I’m out there to soak up the coast, the backroads, the little stops that make a short loop feel like a proper trip, and to remind myself why I ride in the first place. I also don’t ignore what’s going on around us. Canada’s been getting hammered—fires on one side, tariffs and the knock-on effects on the other—so I take a moment to pay my respects to the people who’ve been (and are) “bombing” both fires and foes. The tone is quiet and reflective, but still very much a motorcycle day out: honest, hands-on, and grounded in the reality that riding isn’t separate from life—it’s part of how I process it.
