While I do have some experience with using a TENS unit, this device seemed to take the positives from one of those units and build it into a silicon pad designed specifically for targeting your back and back pain. It was "shocking" the type of sensation it provided to my back. Simply by providing electrical impulses to the various muscles in my back, it was easily able to mimic a massage. As the electrical impulses went through my muscles, I was able to feel the impact not only in may back, but radiating well beyond directly where I was laying on the device.
