Hyperice recently launched their newest version of their X line, which offers contrast therapy without the use of any water or liquid within the device. Within seconds, the X2 delivers either hot or cold relief and allows users to quickly switch between hot and cold to create a contrast therapy routine. This version not only gets warmer and colder than it's predecessor, but also introduces compression, allowing it to have a more customized fit and deliver maximum temperature to the desired area. While the X2 is designed for the knee, it can really be worn anywhere on the leg in form the calf to the quad as it comes with velcro extension straps giving it a greater circumference. Hyperice also makes an X2 version designed for the shoulder, which has the exact same technology showcased in this review. I expect to see this tech spill over into future Hyperice products such as their Normatec Boots and Hyperboots. I wouldn't be surprised if we also get vibration in the future to assist with the heat therapy setting. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. About This Video

In this video I’m reviewing the all-new Hyperice X2 Knee sleeve, and I walk through exactly what it is, what you get in the box, and how it performs after I’ve used it. This is the second generation of Hyperice’s fan-driven contrast therapy tech—meaning it does hot and cold without any water—and the big upgrade this time is compression. I show you the control unit (battery, OLED screen, pump), the sleeve design with the five fan zones, the extension straps for bigger thighs/calves, and what it looks like when the internal air bladders inflate. On specs, the X2 gives you five levels of compression (80–160 mmHg) that mainly improve fit and help drive temperature into the treatment area—it’s not a Normatec-style boot meant to move fluid. Heat now ranges from 105°F to 121°F, and cold ranges from 60°F down to 40°F, plus you can run 10–40 minute sessions and alternate for contrast therapy (it always starts cold). My take: the tech is awesome, the heat is very noticeable, and the cold is meaningfully better than gen 1, but I don’t love the $449 price, the lack of a carry pouch, and Bluetooth/app support not working for me yet.
