I know… it’s been literally a month since our last upload, and in this vlog I’m catching you up on everything you’ve missed around our little city-to-farm life in Canada. The biggest news is that Kate got into university—actually into both programs she applied for, including the co-op option—so she’ll be leaving at the end of August and living several hours away. I’m proud of her (and also not emotionally ready), but we’re excited because she’s planning to try out for the university equestrian team, which means horses and shows are still very much part of the plan. After our life update, I take you out to the goat barn to meet some of our baby Nigerian Dwarf goats and talk about what’s coming next—more does due in July, plus our goat barn extension and a bigger, better setup for weaned babies and separating bucklings. We’ve also been flat-out busy with gardening (we’re total plant people… and yes, hosta snobs), which is part of why filming fell behind. To wrap it up, I bring you along for Kate’s schooling round as we prep Stevie for our first horse show of the season. You’ll see what her coach has her focusing on—sitting up, hands up, feet at the girth to get Stevie’s front end up—and how we work through a little spookiness so Stevie can go confidently again.
