In this short, I’m introducing you to Jackie—Bear’s full sister. The night we had to put Bear down, Jackie’s owner posted that she was looking for a goat or sheep farm where Jackie could have her happiest life guarding, because she and her sister weren’t getting along and the squabbles were getting intense. She came from the best home and was clearly so loved, and you can just tell she’s the sweetest girl ever. Even though Jackie and Bear look different (lighter eyes, different face markings, and she’s slighter because she’s a female), she reminds me so much of him—especially in her mannerisms and the way she looks at you. It honestly feels like we still have a little piece of Bear with us. We spent about an hour at her previous home so she could get used to us, and she trusted me almost immediately—no stranger danger, no stress in the car, just sniffing us and asking for pets. Now that she’s here, I’m taking it slow with her as she adjusts to new smells, leaving her animals, her other LGDs, and even her mom she was attached to. She loves sheep and knows goats too, so it’s a really good transition—and we needed someone to help Moose out.
