In this vlog, I’m taking you along to our FIRST horse show of the season—and honestly, it did not go the way we expected. We were up late the night before getting Stevie ready (braiding, cleaning tack, cleaning boots… the whole "show prep" chaos), and then we still showed up hours early because that’s just how we do it. We grabbed a better spot once people started leaving, did last-minute touch-ups, and tried to keep everything clean… which is hilarious when you’re dealing with a horse who immediately poops and doesn’t want her feet dirty. The wind was absolutely insane, and Stevie was not impressed. In warm-up she got dramatic and decided she might want to become a jumper (out of nowhere), and that energy definitely followed us into the ring. Kate went in for her first trip, we had some chaos, we had a rail, and we had to regroup—because that’s horse showing. The second round was better, and then we headed into the flat class where we’ve been working hard on canter transitions. We didn’t end up placing, but the takeaway is simple: the first show back is about learning, shaking the rust off, and riding what shows up that day—wind, drama, and all.
