They use a mesh-network, intercom-style setup, power on automatically when you put them on, and you just match channels and talk. I break down how the channel knob works (7 channels total: 6 public and 1 private), how teams can scale up to 24 people, and how range increases as more users join a channel. On their own I’m seeing about a half-mile claimed, but in my real-world test with my kids we started getting breakup around a quarter mile—still usable, just staticky. I also dig into the Bluetooth tap controls for music/audiobooks/calls, sound quality (even in wind), battery life (about 2.5 hours in walkie mode, 8 hours playback), and the build: Zeiss lenses, IP65, and a surprisingly light 46g.
